The 50:50 story
-
Ros Atkins shares how he started 50:50 counting back in 2017 as a month-long experiment on his ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News programme, and how the methodology developed.
The 50:50 Project team
Lara joined the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ as a Journalism Trainee in 2009 working on domestic and international News outlets across the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ and at Sky News, with a focus on underserved audiences. She joined 50:50 The Equality Project in 2019, and has since rolled out the initiative’s disability and ethnicity monitoring and overseen it's growth to include over 700 ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ teams and 150 external organisations. Lara is a trained mentor, Women of the Future Awards 2020 finalist, and was named one of the Top 20 professionals on the Global Diversity List 2021.
Miranda is the 50:50 Project Lead and was an Assistant Editor at Live Political Programmes based at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Westminster. She was involved with 50:50 from early on, increasing the number of women from political journalism on air. She has produced many TV Election Debate programmes. Recently she has been a programme output editor at Radio 4’s World at One and PM programmes and was previously an Assistant Editor at the Today programme.
Ros is the Analysis Editor for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News and presents the Outside Source TV programme as well as 'Ros Atkins on...' video explainers. He is the founder of 50:50 and guided the project from a month-long experiment in early 2017 to the global initiative it has become.
