Roles and responsibilities
- Richard is responsible for the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s sports rights portfolio and the supply of on air talent to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport.
- He leads the negotiation and acquisition of all sports rights to include the Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups, UEFA European Championships, the Wimbledon Championships and the Premier League across television, audio and online platforms.
- He also manages the contracting of all presenters, pundits and commentators who deliver ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport content to audiences.
Biography
Richard Armstrong is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and is a graduate of the University of Manchester. Richard joined the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in 2014 as Finance Director for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ North, responsible for the finances of the division including Sport, 5 Live, Children’s and the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Academy, before moving into his current role managing the commercial matters and interests of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport in 2017.
Richard completed his Chartered Accountancy training with Baker Tilly. His professional experience includes commercial negotiation, financial accounting, mergers & acquisitions and equity house investment exits, and prior to joining the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Richard held senior finance positions at the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessey Group.
Expenses and central bookings
Expenses are costs incurred by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ staff on behalf of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ and claimed through the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s expenses system.
Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ and booked through the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s central bookings system. Both expenses and central bookings are published every three months.
