The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Charity Appeals Advisory Committee is made up of independent experts from outside the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ with wide experience of the charitable sector who advise and support the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in a number of areas, including:
- Policy matters relating to all charity appeals associated with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ (by broadcast or on other platforms)
- The overview (and scrutiny where required) of specific fund-raising projects such as Children in Need, Comic Relief, St Martin-in-the-Fields Christmas Appeal, emergency appeals and other projects where funds are raised for charities.
- The allocation of broadcasting time on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Television and Radio to Radio 4 and Lifeline appeals for individual charities
The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ recognises its responsibility to take reasonable steps to ensure that the individual charities are financially sound and that donations will be used appropriately, and the Appeals Advisory Committee play a key part in this.
They work with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½’s Charity Appeals Advisor Emma Kingsley.
