Richard Deverell

Chief Operating Officer, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ North

Richard Deverell is the Chief Operating Officer for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ North. Richard was appointed to this role in March 2009 and started on a full-time basis in November 2009.

His new job is at the heart of the creation of a major new network centre in the north of England, which includes the biggest move in the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s history – with Children's, 5 Live, Sport, Learning and parts of Future, Media & Technology relocating from London in 2011.

In this role, Richard will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic and operational infrastructure for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ North. He will help ensure the right technology, partnerships, ways of working and talent are in place to deliver the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s ambitions as it seeks to create a media centre for the internet age at MediaCity in Salford Quays, Greater Manchester.

Richard was Controller, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Children's, from 2006 to 2009. He was previously Head of News Interactive, responsible for the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News website and before that, Head of Strategy and Marketing at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News.

Richard joined the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in 1992 in the strategy department where he worked on a variety of projects including ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Charter renewal and developing the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s response to multi-channel television distribution and the internet.

Prior to joining the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½, Richard worked in management consultancy. He read Natural Sciences at Cambridge and is married with three children.
