La Calavera
Children's animation. Maya loses Abuela Elena's prized calavera, a skull made of sugar used in Mexican festivals.
Animation about Maya and Miguel Santos, ten-year-old bilingual twins. This duo is convinced that there is nothing they cannot do, fix, improve or invent for their family and friends. Ultimately, Maya's well-intended meddling leads her to create new quandaries to fix, often dragging her twin, Miguel, into her schemes.
When Maya wants to add some weight to her presentation about Mexico for school, she consults Abuela Elena, who allows her to borrow a prized possession: a calavera, or skull made of sugar, that is used in the yearly Day of the Dead celebration. Her presentation goes well, but Maya loses the calavera.
