Portrush in the 50s was a mecca for holidaymakers. Gospel singers may have sung psalms on the beach but they couldn't compete with the sounds coming from the Arcadia Ballroom across the bay, where 3000 people danced to a uniquely Irish phenomenon - Dave Glover and his showband. They say he made the rain go away. This Belfast trumpeter was renowned for being uncompromising in his personal and professional life, but what made him so charismatic? Does the devil really have all the best tunes?
