Intersex

It is the first time that the condition, which affects about one in 4,500 people, has been found in competing athletes and despite the fact that it is more common than we might think, it is not widely discussed. In the past few years, however, intersex people have begun to find a voice and intersex characters are appearing in films and books. , whose latest novel ‘Golden Boy” is about a young boy growing up as an intersex child joins Holly Greenberry – the founder of – to discuss the intersex condition and the impact it has on the lives of intersex people and their families.

Child Maintenance
New research funded by the Nuffield Foundation has found that two thirds of single parents on out of work benefits do not receive any child maintenance from their child’s other parent. It also found that where it is paid, child maintenance plays a key role in lifting children out of poverty. These findings come at a time when the government is planning to introduce a fee to use the Child Support Agency and to encourage parents to negotiate their own private arrangements. What impact will these proposed changes have on families who are unable to come to an arrangement? Jenni is joined by one of the authors of the report, Caroline Bryson, to talk about its findings and recommendations.
