He was Hartley Hare and Tortoise in Pipkins, the voice of Captain Black in Gerry Andersons New Captain Scarlet, and the puppeteer behind the PG Tips Monkey. He was also involved with the Gorillaz Demon Days: Live at the Manchester Opera House.

John was 57 when his previous novel 'The Notable Brain of Maximilian' was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award and the ‘Not the Booker’ prize. His latest book is a romance called 'The Coincidence Authority'. He talks about his travels through the lens of a zoologist and achieving novel writing success later in life.
