Rocky Horror Show, Edinburgh Book Festival and Dunnottar Castle

The Edinburgh Book Festival gets underway, an all-star Rocky Horror Show comes to Glasgow, Kate Tempest chats about her new album, and Emily Esson explores Dunnottar Castle.

The Edinburgh Book Festival kick-starts this weekend, and Roland Gulliver joins Michelle in the studio to reveal the line-up in this year’s Children’s programme.

KMack takes a ride with the Glasgow Gals, a cycle club which aims to encourage more women onto their bikes.

As the last few days of the school holidays fly by, Nick Drainey joins Michelle in the studio to share his top tips for free family days out around Scotland.

Wednesday saw the launch of the Edinburgh Summer Sessions, and Emily Esson caught up organiser Geoff Ellis to hear more about this year’s performances.

It's just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right…. Oh yes! The 1970’s cult classic musical The Rocky Horror Show is making its way around the UK on a year-long tour, and next week the cast arrive in Glasgow for a week of performances at the King’s Theatre. Strictly Come Dancing’s Joanne Clifton and Blue star Duncan James play two of the main characters in this year’s production, and the pair chat with Michelle to serve up an inside scoop.

Poet, rapper, novelist and playwright Kate Tempest makes her International Festival debut this Friday, and Frankie Vaughan hears all about her new album, “The Book of Traps and Lessons”.

The Lyth Family Festival is back for its second year this weekend, with lots of fun activities to keep the kids – and big kids – occupied. Organiser Charlotte Mountford calls in from our studio in Wick to tell us more.

And Emily Esson makes the most of the summer sunshine with a visit to Dunnottar Castle, a local landmark she had never truly explored.
