ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ New Generation Artists celebration plus music from Switzerland
Linton Stephens showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including a celebration of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ New Generation Artists scheme and music from Switzerland.
Linton Stephens showcases the best performances by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe. This week on Classical Live, we celebrate 25 years of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ New Generation Artists scheme. Founded in 1999, the programme supports some of the world’s most exciting young instrumentalists, ensembles and singers at the start of their international careers, through performance and broadcast opportunities on Radio 3. Today, the Chaos String Quartet perform Schubert's Death And The Maiden quartet, violinist Geneva Lewis plays music by Korngold and Alina Ibragimova joins the WDR Symphony Orchestra, Cologne for our centrepiece.
Plus, we will hear music from Switzerland. The Swiss Orchestra, conducted by Lena-Lisa Wüstendörfer, perform Paul Juon's Five Pieces for String Orchestra, Op. 16 and Schola Cantorum Basiliensis Vocal Ensemble sing music by Telemann.
