Episode 20
Nigel Havers presides as five sellers aim to get the best price for their items, including a Durham quilt, an Italian chair, a carving depicting the Last Supper, pendant lights and a WWI ladder.
Nigel Havers welcomes five more sellers to the Bidding Room, where they try to sell items to professional dealers who are on the lookout for interesting pieces, with help from expert Simon Bower.
First in today is Evelyn, with a Durham quilt that has a lovely history. A family member commissioned it to help a lady less fortunate than herself. Will fortune be in Evelyn’s favour in the room?
Margaret is next to face the dealers. She has brought an Italian chair that she purchased at auction ten years ago as a decorative piece. Will the chair sit pretty with any of our dealers today?
Third into Edinburgh HQ is Chris. He spent an enormous amount of time carving out a picture of the Last Supper but has realised it’s far too big for him to keep. Chris is hoping the dealers will recognise the sheer amount of skill and hours he has put into the piece, and that they will want a seat at the table.
Our next hopeful seller is Sophie, with some 70s pendant lights. She picked them up as part of a job lot but realised they were worth more than she paid for them. Will any of the dealers want to brighten Sophie’s day with some big bids?
Finally, it’s Deborah and Christopher, with a bit of history. They picked up the World War I ladders at auction on a whim and, despite their age, the ladders still have so many potential uses around the house. The couple are hoping that the dealers will jump up the rungs with their bids.
The dealers today are Melissa, James, Viki, Jon and Jo.
