The Nation Pays Tribute
The first day of the VE Day 80 celebrations begins with a military procession and a fly-past to honour the Second World War generation. Presented by Sophie Raworth.
The first day of the VE Day 80 celebrations starts with live coverage of a special military procession taking place in London. We honour and pay tribute to the extraordinary bravery and achievements of our veterans, and recognise the invaluable work of those on the home front, who celebrated Victory in Europe Day 80 years ago. The morning’s events culminate in a spectacular fly-past to mark this historic anniversary.
Sophie Raworth presents from a studio in St James’s Park in London, joined by celebrity guests. Paddy O’Connell, whose parents served during the Second World War, provides commentary.
