Squirrel secrets
There’s are only red squirrels up in this part of the world in the north east - but the greys are coming. Everybody thinks that grey squirrels are pushing out reds but that isn’t strictly speaking true. They don’t attack or harass reds, but they do compete for the food and because they’re bigger and more robust they tend to win out. That’s why there are special feeders here which are supposedly grey-proof. Bill Oddie watches a red squirrel at one of the special feeders. And in case you’re wondering, red squirrel was number one - the animal that viewers most wanted to see.
