What you can see is聽a wooden 'stop gate',聽used in the olden days to close off parts of the canal for works to be done.聽It's underneath the Swing Bridge near Halberton. The gates won't actually聽be dug up......just recorded for posterity. Generally the repair work is going well and depending on the weather, the council聽aims to聽complete it by the聽end of March.
