Journalist John Robb: Punk would not exist without Bowie
Music journalist John Robb has told 5 live he thinks punk “would not exist without David Bowie”.
Paying tribute to Bowie, who has died at the age of 69, Robb said that Bowie “Blew people’s minds in the seventies […] he expanded the possibility of the pop song to so many different spaces”.
Speaking to Adrian Chiles on 5 live Daily, John Robb, who saw Bowie live numerous times said of Bowie’s latest album Blackstar:
“He went out at the pinnacle, making an unconventional record…he took chances all the way through…never resting on his laurels […] Even the records that didn’t work that well have a reason for being there, and you still respect him for taking the chances”.
