Australia’s National Music Camp
One thousand hopefuls applied for the Australia Youth Orchestra last year. Only 200 got in
Last year, 1,000 hopefuls applied for the Australia Youth Orchestra. Just 200 were accepted. It’s a fierce competition that was formed 50 years ago to find the country’s very best young musicians. For those that make it through, the prize is staying at the two-week National Music camp where they get to study with top conductors. We went along to the camp to discover for ourselves just how incredibly talented you need to be to get into the Australia Youth Orchestra.
Also on the show, we go behind the stage of Jesus Christ Super Star to see what’s it’s really like to be in a top London musical.
