
'I just want to be somewhere safe'
MSPs have called for a new strategy to deal with problems of destitution affecting asylum seekers in Scotland.
A report by Holyrood's equalities and human rights committee says the current system lacks compassion and humanity.
They have called for a range of measures to tackle the problem, including a Scottish anti-destitution strategy and better guidance for local authorities dealing with people who have insecure immigration status.
Asylum seeker Mehdi told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Scotland's Sally McNair that he is grateful for the protection that a night shelter in Glasgow provides.
