Church painter saves the day with opera master class
Painter and decorator John Pierce stepped in to save the day after a church’s concert artist fell ill last minute. In the morning he was busy decorating Maldon’s United Reformed Church in Essex, but by the afternoon he had taken centre stage, delighting church goers with an operatic master class. He didn’t even have chance to change out of his painting overalls.
John told 5 live that once he started singing “everyone’s faces dropped”.
“They didn’t know anything about me, so I think that was the lovely thing”.
