‘Dancing was a major part of my recovery’
Scottie was in a coma for three days after fracturing his skull in a cycling accident. Before the accident he had met Katie at a beginners dance class and was determined to dance with her again.
Scottie said “The act of dancing, just the act of rhythmic movement, going around in circles, and just my brain telling my body to do basic moves, I think that was a major part of my recovery”.
Headway, the brain injury association say around 350,000 people go to hospital each year in the UK with a diagnosis of brain injury.
