500 gigs in 5 months

That's exactly what Worcester musician Jasper Malone has been doing, having performed more than 500 gigs on board the Pacific Jewel cruise liner around the Australian coast.
Ìý
In recent years, his band, Jasper in the Company of Others, has shared the stage with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran, Cast and Toploader.

But how do you make that transition from playing £150 gigs - or free gigs, in many cases, to the them paying you directly?

Step forth Steve Knightley, who's behind the multi-award winning acoustic roots duo Show of Hands. He came up with the concept of 'Grow Your Own Gig', which involves hiring village halls across the land and charging people admission.

And that golden figure was £15. Any less and the audience simply thought the music wasn't worth going to see. So tonight, we dig deeper into those figures...
