Council education boss defends decision to keep schools shut
The decision that schools in Bury will not reopen on 1 June has been defended by the borough's education boss.
Speaking to ѿý Radio 5 Live, Labour Councillor Tamoor Tariq said “a lot of parents” had said they would not be sending children back to school so reopening schools was not “sensible, reasonable or pragmatic”.
However, 5 Live listener Clare contacted the Emma Barnett show and said the deadline for a feedback form she had been given by her child’s school had not yet expired, “so how can the council have a full picture?”
