A drone attack in the city of Sumy in Ukraine leaves a family's business and livehoods in serious risk due to the damages done.

Over the last two weeks, a city in Ukraine called Sumy, has been struck by drone and missile attacks.

Areas of the Sumy region in Ukraine have been under constant bombardment from Russian forces.

Parts of Sumy were temporarily occupied by Russia back in 2022, though Ukrainian forces have since managed to force them out.

Two weeks ago, Russia launched a missile strike targeting north-eastern Ukraine, this was during a meeting between US and Russian officials who met to push for a pause in the war.

As the war continues, what can day to day life be like living under these conditions?

Yevhenii Kulomza, is a man living in Sumy in Ukraine.

He owns a family-run business, which is one of the city's largest seafood suppliers.

His family would send seafood from their own markets, to cafes, restaurants, and stores.

On the 6th of April a drone attack stuck his region, the building and market he worked in had been left in ruins.

He describes the damages as 'devastating', saying its caused a financial loss of around 3 million dollars.

He is currently trying to rebuild and save what he can of the business he owns with his family.

He said "Giving up isn't an option for us, even though the damage is enormous."

Speaking about the drone attacks in Sumy, he told Newsday, "When the bombardment started this past week, I felt a mixture of shock and fear, and it's hard to describe the moment you hear the first explosion. It's like the ground shakes beneath you, and your heart stops for a second..."
