Soweto Kinch – jazz saxophonist, hip hop artist, curator and presenter – has developed an enviable presence on the UK music scene. Tonight he hosts a special edition in Sunderland of his acclaimed late-night Radio 3 show ’Round Midnight, which celebrates the best in jazz from all eras and from around the globe, as well as giving a platform to new UK artists. ‘There’s such a breadth and diversity of expression within what we call jazz,’ says Kinch. So expect an eclectic mix of special guests and chat, including Grammy-nominated jazz trumpeter Theo Croker, who performs tracks from his hotly anticipated new album Dream Manifest, and the boundary-pushing Joe Webb Trio, which celebrates Oscar Peterson 100 years after his birth. Opening the evening is North East jazz artist Rivkala, recently spotlighted by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Music Introducing as one of its ‘Ones to Watch for 2025’.
