This week Vernon Kay's guest is author and musician, best known as the founder and lead singer of Britpop icons “Sleeper”, Louise Wener.
Louise went to Manchester University, where she met Jon Stewart, which led to the formation of Sleeper. They enjoyed huge critical and commercial success in the mid-90s with their debut album “Smart” and the band went on to achieve 8 Top 40 singles across 3 Top 10 albums with well over a million sales.
Sleeper split in 1998 and walked purposely away from the limelight. Louise carved out a career as a successful novelist, publishing her autobiography, “Different For Girls” in 2010.
The Band then reformed in 2017 and have played a number sell-out tours since their comeback and after a summer of festivals this year, Sleeper will play their full headline “Inbetweener” Greatest Hits UK tour, through September and October.
But Louise doesn’t let us down at the start of her Tracks of My Years journey her pick is Bruce Springsteen and “Born To Run”.
To listen on most smart speakers just say “ask ѿý Sounds to play Tracks of My Years".
