Trips to Banbridge, Ballycarry, Brittany and…Virginia!

A cultural melting pot in Banbridge, a Brittany-inspired Hairt Song, pipes and drums head stateside, and a world record attempt in Ballycarry.

Helen Mark presents ѿý Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine show alongside Rab Lennox and Willie Hill. There’s trips around the world this week – but don’t worry license fee payers, it’s the guests who are racking up the airmiles! We hear of a Tattoo in Virginia featuring pipes and drums courtesy of Northern Irish musicians - and a “Hairt Song” from local legend Andy McGregor which recalls a memorable trip to France. Closer to home, Rab visits an event in Banbridge which celebrates music from around the world while Willie has a story from Ballycarry about an attempt to break a world record…on a homemade superbike!
As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
