King's Lynn 12
Stepping up for expert duties are David Fergus and Caroline Hawley, who guide two teams of families around a massive antiques centre in the Norfolk port town of King’s Lynn.
A well-groomed Charlie Ross pays a visit to a barbershop museum in Norfolk to see a huge collection of antique shaving mugs. One scuttle-shaped mug was patented in around 1867. In total, proud museum owner Richard Finney has 500 on display.
Aiming to shave off a few pounds on their purchases are two teams of families shopping at a massive antiques centre in King’s Lynn. In red are father and daughter Simon and Ellen, and in blue are father and son Dave and James. With maths teacher Ellen keeping tabs on the reds’ budget, scientist Simon hopes their chemistry will generate profits. Meanwhile, the blues have a close encounter with a model of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, but at £245, he’s not coming home with them.
Wielding his gavel in neighbouring Lincolnshire is auctioneer Colin Young. He shares his estimates with Charlie before the teams’ items go under the hammer. Profit or loss, one team comes out on top – but which one?
