Back then she was performing at the open mic nights at Doodies on St Owen's Street in Hereford, which is no longer there, and having some of those early CDs played on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Hereford & Worcester.

Fast forward a decade - and she's now a household name across the globe, with many of her lesser heard singles in Britain flying high in the US Billboard charts.

Last weekend the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ welcomed her back - putting her on stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Exeter.

Lead singer Olly Alexander studied Performing Arts at Hereford College Of Arts and became the band's lead singer after meeting at a house party and was overheard singing in the shower!

The event, which is now in its 29th year, is such a success - there are now Hay Festivals taking place all over the world.
