20 - 23 June: Sonic Rock Solstice, Bromsgrove
Ìý
Stoke Prior also hosts Beermageddon, Breaking Bands and Onboard The Craft every year.
Be Kinder Day
Ìý
One family, whose members span from Ashton-under-Hill, near Evesham, to Australia, certainly think so - that's why they've launched Be Kinder Day - which is today.
Ìý
The event was set up in memory of Billie Kinder, a 12-year-old girl, who was tragically killed in a horse riding accident in 2016.
Ìý
The family are now on a mission to spread their message throughout schools in the UK.
Ìý
Tonight we hear from Billie's niece, the Evesham-based country singer Devon Mayson, who wrote a song in her memory and is currently promoting Billie's legacy in Australia.
Festival Holidays
Ìý
We have loads of festivals round here, from Nozstock to Mello, Lakefest to Hay, even city-wide events like Worcester Music Festival.
Ìý
But just how good are they for tourism - and do the people who organise them see people treating them like a holiday?
Ìý
Tonight, we investigate - with Emma Wheeler from Visit Worcestershire and Steve High from both the Sunshine and Mello festivals.
Artist of the Week: Under A Banner
Ìý
The last couple of years has seen the band support New Model Army; have their music be played on dozens of online and FM radio stations; be featured in multiple blogs and magazines while taking the festival circuit by storm.
Ìý
Taking influence from The Levellers, Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell, the members of Under A Banner are scattered across the Midlands, including Worcester, and during the day work in teaching and computing.
Ìý
They also performed for us on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Introducing Stage at Hopfest, near Bewdley, last year.
Musicians' Masterclass
Ìý
In this week's Musicians' Masterclass, we look at the role of the publisher with:
Ìý
- Singer/songwriter and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ 6 Music presenter Tom Robinson.
- Emily Phillips, who's been writing songs for major labels for more than a decade - including John Newman's 'Love Me Again'.Ìý
- Producer, composer & ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 1Xtra resident Moses Boyd.
Ellie Goulding at Radio 1's Big Weekend
Ìý
She's Herefordshire's most successful-ever export - having achieved more top 40 records than the Pretenders and Mott The Hoople put together.
Ìý
Over these last few weeks, we've been hearing tracks from her performance at Radio 1's Big Weeekend in Middlesborough.
Features
- In the news: the Bromsgrove musician heading to Europe to support Tears For Fears.
- In the gig guide: Looking ahead to the Upton Jazz Festival, Woo Fest near Upton and Barn On The Farm near Hereford.
