Rutger Hauer is a Dutch actor, arguably best known for his portrayal of replicant in Ridley Scott鈥檚 science fiction masterpiece .

Hauer famously improvised the unforgettable 鈥渢ears in rain鈥� soliloquy at the end of his character Batty鈥檚 life. Hauer expressed that he wanted to add human qualities to his robot character, giving Batty a sense of poetry, sexuality and soul. Because of Hauer Roy Batty is amongst the most iconic characters in science fiction history.
