
Teenager Sophie's Feelings About Her Parents' Long Working Hours
In Britain we work longer hours than in most other European countries. In more than four out of ten families both parents frequently work evenings and weekends. Excessive working is now being linked to problems in children – as the Priddis family discovered.
Sophie Priddis and her twin sisters Hannah and Beth became very upset about the long hours their parents were working. What they wanted more than anything was their mum and dad’s time and attention. Their mother Ally Priddis was working full-time in a demanding job at the local job centre. Their dad Jeff is a caretaker at their school and he often has to work late. The long working hours took its toll on their family.
