Shannon and Alastair Believe Nursery Care Is Good For Their Young Children.
Not all academics agree that we should be so concerned about the impact of nursery care on young children. They agree that if you send babies under the age of one to day-care for long periods of time, it can lead to problems with behaviour. But for older toddlers, some believe that the concerns overstated.
Shannon Sommarsby and Alastair Swaffer have two year old twins, Charlotte and Fraser. The twins go full-time to a local nursery – and, despite the warnings from some academics, their parents firmly believe it has been a positive experience for them. Any behaviour problems, they say, are just a stage they are going through.
